New Haven Grays 1 vs Shelton 14U

Grays 1 won big over Shelton 13-14u Babe Ruth 14-6 on Saturday.

Grays 1 got on the board in the top of the first inning after Shelton 13-14u Babe Ruth committed an error, and Damion Montillas singled to left field, each scoring one run.

A walk by Ethan Aceto, a ground out by Ray Wallman, and a double by Israel Galarza helped Grays 1 extend their early lead in the second.

Grays 1 added two runs in the third. Wallman singled to center field, making the score 8-1.

Carmelo Ramos earned the win for Grays 1. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Aceto pitched three innings in relief for Grays 1. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (one earned) while, striking out two and walking two. Jacob Gonzalez took the loss for Shelton 13-14u Babe Ruth. The starter went two innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking six. Alex Coca collected the save.

Wallman, the number eight hitter for Grays 1, led the way with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Galarza and Jacari Reid each collected two hits for Grays 1. Grays 1 had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 12 walks for the game. Jasper Anderholt and Aceto led the team with three free passes each. Galarza, Coca, Ramos, Reid, Anderholt, Aceto, Montillas, and Jayce Ingram each stole multiple bases for Grays 1. Grays 1 stole 23 bases in the game. Grays 1 turned one double play in the game.
