New Haven Grays 14U Impressive In Win Against Stamford 15U – July 13, 2025
Grays 1 won big over Stamford 15U 15-3 on Sunday.
Stamford 15U got on the board in the first inning after an error scored two runs.
Grays 1 flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Damion Montillas that drove in two.
A walk by Jeremiah Taylor, a single by Silas Turner, and a walk by Marlon Soto helped Grays 1 extend their early lead in the second.
Grays 1 scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the third inning. Carmelo Ramos drew a walk, scoring one run, Taylor singled, scoring two runs, Alex Coca drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Turner earned the win for Grays 1. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Mike Stacey took the loss for Stamford 15U. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing nine runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking seven. Israel Galarza collected the save. Montillas threw one inning of scoreless ball for Grays 1 in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Jayce Ingram, Turner, Taylor, Ramos, Jasper Anderholt, and Montillas each collected one hit for Grays 1. Turner, Taylor, and Montillas each drove in two runs for Grays 1. Soto paced Grays 1 with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 16 walks for the game. Taylor, Ramos, Anderholt, and Ethan Montero each stole multiple bases for Grays 1. Grays 1 ran wild on the base paths, collecting 13 stolen bases for the game.
Ben Bridgers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Stamford 15U with two runs batted in. Stacey and Kamren Penny were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Stamford 15U while hitting back-to-back.
Grays 1 play at home on Wednesday against Fairfield 16U in their next game.
