Performance Baseball 14U had trouble keeping up with Bluefish Travel 15U Gray in a 10-0 loss on Saturday at Veterans Park, Bridgeport.
Bluefish Travel 15U Gray got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lorenzo Flores tripled to center field, Eric Veloz hit a sacrifice fly, Brian Cruz doubled down the left field line, and Performance Baseball 14U committed an error, each scoring one run.
A single by Flores, a double by Veloz, and a single by Jack Thomas Wiltsie helped Bluefish Travel 15U Gray extend their early lead in the third.
Cruz earned the win for Bluefish Travel 15U Gray. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Drew Anderson took the loss for Performance Baseball 14U. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking three.
Ryan Farina led Performance Baseball 14U with one hit in two at bats. Performance Baseball 14U turned one double play in the game.
Veloz drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bluefish Travel 15U Gray with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Cruz and Flores each collected two hits for Bluefish Travel 15U Gray. Reinaldo Dehostos stole two bases. Bluefish Travel 15U Gray were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Wiltsie had the most chances in the field with two.
